Limitations
The demand for wheelchair cannot be met because of limited resources and high costs of raw materials. Most PWDsface xtreme poverty and cannot afford a whelchair or other mobility items on their own. The curent premises are rented (adding to high monthly costs) and too small to afford adequate expansion.
Current Needs
Any donated manufacturing material (piping, fabric, bearings, wheels, etc.) would allow construction of additional wheelchairs at lower costs to the often pooor and destitute PWDs served by MADE. Also, basic office equipment- especially a fixed hone line and computer for email and internet access- would be helpful.
Long-Term Needs
Acquisition of land and construction of a building designed for this style of manufacturing would reduce overall expenses significantly (note: land and construction are substantially lower cost than U.S. Standards; the amount involved here is around $25,000 US.)
